This exhibition of work from his studio will be the first selling exhibition of Tadek Beutlich’s work since his death in 2011.
Tadek Beutlich, textile artist, teacher and printmaker is best known as an weaver of textile constructions and extraordinary tapestries but he also produced some large and very striking relief prints, most printed in the 1960s and 70s.
Tadek printed his prints without a press and many were printed for the print publishers, Editions Alecto. Originally from Poland, Tadek studied at art school in Poznan and later studied in Germany and Italy before graduating in textiles from Camberwell School of Art and Crafts, London in 1950. He subsequently taught at Camberwell from 1951 to 1974. He lived for many years in Ditchling in Sussex and then in Spain before returning to the UK to live in Kent.
He also wrote several books on his work including, “The Technique of Woven Tapestry” 1967. His work is held in many collections including the V&A Museum and Tate, London.
