The February 2021 Meeting Talk will be delivered slightly differently than usual. Starting
at 2pm it will be delivered in two 45 minute sessions with a 15 minute break in
between. There will then follow the usual Q&A.
Spinning is relaxing, spinning is pleasurable, and spinning is fun. We all gain great
pleasure from sitting in front of our wheels and turning fibre in to yarn. It’s nice to be
able to do it and just relax, but it’s also nice to be able to make yarn for specific
projects. And for that, we need to apply a bit of theory with a touch of planning. This
talk will cover lots of different aspects of yarn design, from thickness, twist levels, ply
It’s specifically targeted at spinners, but even if you don’t spin, you’ll still gain some
useful information from this talk, because it will let you choose the correct yarn for the
project you’re using it for.
