This summer a selection of the 77 Quaker tapestry panels will be on display at The Light, an event venue located within Friends House, Euston Road. The 77 vibrant embroidered panels were made by 4,000 men, women and children from 15 countries between 1981 and 1996. Often compared with the Bayeux Tapestry, this masterpiece of storytelling is a celebration of life, people and events across the centuries.

A Taster Workshop will also be available where you can learn the six stitches (Stem, Split, Chain, Quaker and Bayeux Point and Peking Knot)  that are used in the Quaker Tapestry and take home your very own stitched sampler.

The Quaker Tapestry began in 1981 as a project to brighten up the children’s room. The Tapestry panels have been touring since the late 1980s all over Britain, some parts of America, France, Ireland etc.

This free exhibition is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. Late night Thursdays until 8pm.
