Richard McVetis Design Workshop            13 September 2019    10:00-16:00

Richard came and spoke to the Guild in July 2018 and transfixed us all on his design process and interpretation. Your feedback suggested you would welcome him returning to give a workshop, which he has kindly agreed to do. In this workshop participants will be able to research and design a new work shaped and inspired by a moment in time. This could be a memory of a person or place, something from the everyday. The focus is on design, allowing participants to create a new work in their own style and telling their own story. There will be number of mixed media exercises to explore and create your own personal language.
Cost: £40
Materials: £8 payable on the day to Richard

Fiona Daly Weave Workshop                      19 October 2019        10:00-13:30

Many of you have seen the book Fiona published in 2018 – ‘Little Loom Weaving’ and were enthused by the way she has adapted and used cloth weaving structures on simple frame looms. We have been lucky enough to book Fiona to give a talk to the Guild in October and now she has also agreed to conduct a ‘special’ workshop for us in the morning. This project based workshop aims to introduce you to the basics of hand-weaving on simple frame looms. You will be guided through from the initials steps of how to set up a loom with a warp for weaving, understanding setts and tension; warp and weft. You will be taught how to hand-weave in plain and twill weave structures on a frame loom.
