Yarn in the City are excited to return to their original format for this year’s Great London Yarn Crawl: a day-long tour of four yarn and haberdashery shops followed by an exclusive after-party – this year featuring a Mini Yarn Market – for even more yarn-y goodness!
The Great London Yarn Crawl is a knitting event that’s a bit different than the usual “stitch and bitch” get together! It’s a chance to meet some other knitters/hookers/fibre-loving folk, take in some of the sights of London, and generally hang out with yarn. It’s also an opportunity to visit different yarn and haberdashery shops around the city, including some that you maybe haven’t had a chance to get to yet.
The 2017 Great London Yarn Crawl features 12 routes. Each group will have a maximum of 10 participants and 1-2 volunteer yarn guides to lead them on their crafty exploration of London! In a nod to GLYC’s origins as a “yarn crawl on the tube” they have named each group for a different line of the London Underground!
Participants choose a team with a pre-designated route. As a group and with their Yarn Guides, participants visit three or four yarn and/or haberdashery shops on route, including a stop for lunch, before meeting up with participants at the end of the day for an after-party.
Tickets are priced at £18 per person and include your GLYC badge (to show you’re part of the event, get discounts at some of the shops, and access to our after party with great door prizes), and a goody bag with your event pack details, special offers from sponsors, and various other yarny goodies! The net proceeds go to the charity Refuge!
